Piper's Survival Story
The little Pomeranian that could and did
-This past March, my fiance Gerald and I entered his truck at the
Dallas Car Show and our show spot happened to be near where the
SPCA was having their off-site adoption. Gerald had first gone over
to the adoption area and noticed this cute little 5 lb toy
Pomeranian that the SPCA was raising money for treatment of her
heart worm condition that was a result of the neglect she suffered
from being at the puppy mill. The SPCA had named her Minnie which I
later changed to Piper, as I already had a dog named Feebe and
wanted her to be part of the "charmed ones". She was one of the
last mommy dogs rescued by the SPCA from that puppy mill operation.
She is approximately 3-4 years old. The next day, I contributed
money to her cause and asked if I could see the dog. I immediately
fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. That Sunday, the
last day of the car show, I adopted her and brought her over by our
truck display. From that point forward, no one paid any more
attention to our truck - it was all about Piper. She followed me
around as if she had a leash connected to my foot. People at the
car show could not believe I just adopted her minutes before. Now,
4 months later and going through the heart worm treatment at the
SPCA, Piper is a very healthy Pom and her heart murmur is gone and
her heart beat is very strong. She goes to all the cars shows with
us and it always the "hit" of the show. Thanks SPCA for rescuing
Piper and saving her life.
